Buy KE ARMS LLC – CIVIL DEFENSE RIFLE (CDR) RIFLE online. With a similar thinking process as the fully equipped WWSD2020, the CDR is a lightweight, contemporary carbine, ready out of the box for heavy usage. The core of the CDR is the KP-15 polymer lower receiver, which gives high endurance out of a lightweight platform.
The combined buttstock, grip and buffer tube enhance the polymer construction, enabling it to stand up to harsh drop tests and torture testing. Ambidextrous safety selector enables for simplicity of usage from any posture. The integrated KE Arms DMR Trigger offers a quick and clean trigger pull, with minimal rest. Unlike the WWSD, the CDR features a conventional bolt catch and magazine release, as well as a regular carbine buffer & spring.
The upper receiver provided with the CDR is comparable to the WWSD, with no forward assist, minimizing needless components and possible failure areas. Black nitride bolt carrier group offers exceptional corrosion resistance and lubricity. KE Arms Enhanced Charging Handle promotes dependable operation.
The lightweight Faxon 16 inch pencil barrel paired with a KE Arms 12.5 inch Delta-S handguard make for an outstanding handling rifle, with no superfluous weight up front. Barrel has a 1-8 twist and is chambered for 5.56x45mm. The mid-length gas system adds to a gentle shooting setup. Capping the barrel is an A2 flash hider.

KE Arms Introduces the Civil Defense Rifle – A More Budget-Friendly WWSD
The primary hangup for a lot of folks in completing their WWSD rifles has been the paucity of availability to match the demand for carbon fiber handguards. Another element in considerable demand were the mid-length gas pencil shape barrels from Faxon Firearms. It took me well over 4 months simply to get my hands on a pencil profile barrel for my own rifle and the 12″ carbon fiber handguards are pretty much unobtanium at this time.
So with a lot of people’s guns stalling out, Ian and Karl worked together to build the Civil Defense Rifle (CDR) with an eye towards not only affordable components, but also availability. While the KE Arms KP-15 Lowers and ambidextrous controls are still a basic feature of the rifle, a few other parts were switched out with more cheap ones which include the following:
- Skeletonized aluminum handguard instead of carbon fiber
- Standard recoil system instead of the JP Silent Capture
- KE Arms’ DMR trigger instead of the SLT/Rekluse
- Ambidextrous safety only, instead of fully Ambi controls
- Nitrided bolt and carrier instead of chromed carrier
These component adjustments pushed down the entire MSRP down from $1699.99 to only $1249.99. Brownells presently has the finished CDR rifles for sale (and they are in stock as of writing) on their website.
In essence, the CDR is a less ambidextrous, less luxury-minded WWSD rifle that also weights a little more. One of the components I thought was particularly amazing about the original WWSD design is the JP2 Silent Captured Buffer Assembly. I’m personally a major admirer of these buffer assemblies and have used them on other rifles I’ve put together.
